Île-de-France Mobilités, a new vision of public transport

Each year, Île-de-France Mobilités devotes more than three billion euros to transforming passengers’ experience in public transport. This includes new trains, metros, buses, and trams, renovations of lines and vehicles, and the transition to sustainable energy, accessibility of transport for all passengers, and investments in safety and comfort across the network.

To meet a multitude of travel needs, Île-de-France Mobilités is developing its network to reflect those who use it every day, regardless of their travel capacity or financial resources. We ensure access to public transport even in the more remote areas of the region and develop a range of solutions to allow everyone to move around freely.

In practice, what does that mean?

  1. A reliable metro network, which will double in size by 2030

The Paris region metro network will double in size by 2030 with the extension and automation of existing lines and the creation of four new lines to connect the suburbs, without passing through Paris.

Multiple solutions for everyone’s mobility needs
  • Regional buses: The Regional Express Coach network is setting up around fifty routes which will connect the outer suburbs and beyond to the regional transport network, using major roads.

  • Transport On Demand: TOD is an on-demand transport service connecting remote areas to the nearest train station. This service is available using a standard transport ticket.

A fully carbon-free network by 2050

So that everyone can travel while respecting the environment, Île-de-France Mobilités is fully committed to the ecological transition of its network and infrastructure.

The Paris Region will be the first in France on the road to carbon neutrality by 2050 thanks to its Sustainable Mobility Plan. This plan includes 14 concrete actions and technological innovations, such as biomethane or electric vehicles, completely redesigned infrastructure, and a local biogas production sector financed by Île-de-France Mobilities.
